By installing a GridRecloser, intelligence is moved further out into the network, enabling effective sectionalizing of a line and monitoring of vulnerable parts.
They should be placed at transitions from cable to overhead line networks, such as at the exit points of communities. Another suitable placement is before a section of a frequently fault-prone line. Along sections with a high fault frequency, entire lines are usually affected, but if these sections can be automatically disconnected in the event of a fault, many customer outage minutes can be avoided.
